I never thought I would go to Burning Man .. being as sensitive as I am I had so many fears about the harsh climate .. the heat, dust, and wind. I had fears about over-stimulation with all of the lights, the people, and the constant sounds. I was afraid of everything about it.
I am happy to say that I decided to go this year and that all of my fears disappeared. I was relaxed and open. I explored, I connected, and I went with the flow. I had an amazing time!
acrobats performing on the empire state building in 1931
a friend found this photo of a couple of acroyogis playing on the beach in the 1930s. people have been having fun playing together like this for a long time..
this photo was taken just over a week ago in Japan. same move.. different time.. different style.
yesterday i went back in time.
and became part of a 1930’s circus.
there were all sorts of performers.. aerialists, contortionists, clowns, sword swallowers, and even an elephant, named Tai.
it was pretty amazing.
the project was put together for a photo trilogy by Wayne Schoenfeld and for filming an upcoming 3D tv show, Sawdust.
Today my teacher said to me.. you need to do between 150 and 200 handstands a day.. every day. Of course I’m thinking he’s out of his mind! But he says it will help me to get better at this :
.. and I know he’s right. So here’s my first handstand challenge : do at least 10 handstands every day. I can do that. 150 to 200 can wait a few months!
